What is Perlite Mortar or Thermal Insulating Mortar ?
Posted on 2015-04-17
What is perlite:
Perlite is incombustible and fibre-free granular insulation. The raw material is an aluminium silicate of volcanic origin and is white in colour. Perlite is a glassy stone that expands when heated. This expansion takes place by soaking the outside and subsequently evaporating the liquid (2 to 5%) in the grain. When expanded, the grain - which has become porous- can become 20 times larger.

Product specifications of Perlite mortar:
Applications of Perlite mortar:
As the influence on the drying characteristics and the related thermal conductivity (value) and pressure resistance, only grain grade Perlite grain A is used for Perlite insulating mortar. Perlite grain A is grade 0-5mm.
Perlite mortar delivery range:
For the various areas of application, standard Perlite insulation mortars are available in five mortar ratios. Other mixing ratios are available on request. When processing on site, only clean water should be added.
After moistening in a counterflow mixer or concrete mixer, Perlite insulation mortar should be applied, distributed, smoothed with the steel tool and plastered. An optional top layer can be applied after about 24 hours of hardening.
The product is used as insulating filling of concrete elements, but also as floor filling and as a lightweight insulating fall layer.
Packaged on pallets. 40 PE (polyethylene) bags of 50 litres on each pallet. On each pallet, 2 m3 is deliver.
